Get relief
from a broken heart

This is not counseling or therapy.

We provide a different set of tools...

an evidence-based action plan to empower you to move forward.

Broken Heart

Have you experienced a death, divorce, or the end of a romantic relationship?

There are 40+ losses that a person might experience, such as moving, pet loss, or a change in finances

Regardless of the cause, you know how you feel, and it isn’t good.

No one knows how YOU feel... BUT we know how we can help.

We provide a safe environment and specific tools to help you recover from loss and ultimately lead a happier life.

The Problem

The Problem

Grief is the normal and natural emotional response to loss, but most of the information we’ve learned about dealing with loss is intellectual.

Although our Grief Support Groups involve some educational elements, effective Grief Recovery must deal with your broken heart, which requires emotional support instead of intellectual explanations.

Myths about Grief

  • Time heals all wounds

  • Replace the loss

  • Grieve alone

  • Be strong

  • Don’t feel bad

  • Keep busy

When is it time to begin to recover?

If you fell down and gashed your leg and blood was pouring out,

would you immediately seek medical attention?

The obvious answer is YES.

If circumstances and events conspired to break your heart,

would you see attention immediately,

or would you allow yourself to bleed to death emotionally?

Pick One!

Solution

There is a Solution

People advise to "let go and move on" in your life or to grieve differently, but they don’t tell you how.

THE GRIEF RECOVERY METHOD® is a safe, EVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAM for grievers to take effective action toward healing. Developed and refined over the past 40 years, it teaches how to recover from loss with supportive guidance every step of the way.

So often people attempt to deal with their pain by trying to keep busy, by just giving it time or by stuffing it away.  They may look fine on the outside but their broken heart, fear, and uncertainty on how to cope is most often hidden.

Attendance in our small groups has helped people immensely and will benefit you, also! The group dynamic is a unique experience in itself... and we fully respect your confidentiality.

FAQs

WHAT IS THE GRIEF RECOVERY® PROGRAM? It’s a once-a-week face-to-face meeting that gives you the tools, space, and support to work through and release the pain of a major life loss. The program lasts seven to twelve weeks, depending on the size of your program (one-on-one vs. group). One-on-ones usually last seven weeks and group programs usually last eight to twelve weeks.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ONE-ON-ONE AND GROUP PROGRAMS? In a one-on-one program, you’ll work directly with me. You’ll hear my story and get direct support from me throughout. In a group program, you’ll work with me as well as others. You’ll hear my story as well as the stories of others and get support from the group through the later weeks of the program.

WHAT LOSSES ARE OK TO WORK ON? All losses are welcome! Death, divorce, and diagnosis are the most common, but there are over 43 losses that can cause grief, including moving, relationship changes, health changes, empty nest, graduation, retirement, end of addictions, unmet hopes, dreams & expectations, loss of a pet, loss of a job, loss of trust, loss of faith, …

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM OUT TIME TOGETHER? During each two hour session, you’ll be welcomed into a confidential, non-judgmental space where you’ll be expected to share the truth of your story as it happened to you. You’ll also be expected to complete weekly reading and homework assignments. From me, you can expect open ears and an open heart ready to receive your story. I’m also available to answer logistical questions about the program.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING? A notebook and something to write with. Books and worksheets will be provided for you.

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND EVERY SESSION? Yes. If you miss a one-on-one session, you’ll be asked to reschedule your session with the possibility of incurring a fee. If you miss a group session after the first two weeks, you’ll be asked to leave the program with the opportunity to finish with another group at another time.

HOW IS THE GRIEF RECOERY METHOD® DIFFERENT FROM THERAPY? The Grief Recovery Method® is a series of steps specifically designed to help you recover from major loss within a set time frame. Unlike traditional therapy, The Grief Recovery Method® comes with a preestablished framework, a distinct focus on grief, and a limited number of meetings.
